Read Chireads Stories Offline on a Flight

Download your Chireads story before you leave and save it on the device you plan to use. Once the EPUB or PDF is on that device, you can open it without an internet connection. Test it in airplane mode before the flight so you have time to fix any problems.

Download the Chireads story before your flight

WP Downloader is a free web tool and does not require an installation. Chireads stories are in French, and their URLs usually follow this pattern:

While you still have an internet connection:

Open the Chireads downloader.
Copy the story URL from your browser.
Paste it into WP Downloader.
Choose whether to include the story’s images.
Download the story as EPUB or PDF.

EPUB is free for everyone. Downloading a PDF requires a free Discord sign-in. You do not need a Chireads account.

WP Downloader downloads complete Chireads stories, not individual chapters or reading lists. It only retrieves content that is already available to read and does not bypass paywalls, locked chapters, or age restrictions.

Choose EPUB or PDF

Choose EPUB if you want to read the story in an app or send it to a Kindle. Amazon’s Send to Kindle service accepts EPUB files.

You can also download the story as a PDF. Both formats work offline once the file is saved on your device.

WP Downloader does not create MOBI, AZW3, or TXT files. Send to Kindle no longer accepts MOBI, so use EPUB or PDF for a Kindle.

Put the story on the device you will take

Transfer or download the file while you still have a reliable internet connection. The steps depend on the device you will use.

Phone or tablet

Download the EPUB or PDF to the phone or tablet you are taking. Open the file in an app that supports the chosen format.

Open the book itself and move through a few pages. Seeing the file in your downloads does not confirm that it is available in your reading app.

Kindle e-reader or Kindle app

Download the EPUB or PDF with WP Downloader, then deliver it using Amazon’s Send to Kindle service. Amazon accepts both formats through:

Email to your Kindle’s Send-to-Kindle address
The Send to Kindle app
Send to Kindle on the web

Amazon converts an EPUB after you send it. The converted book appears in your Kindle library on Kindle e-readers and in the Kindle app.

Send to Kindle needs an internet connection to deliver the book, so complete this step before your flight. When sending by email, use an address on your approved sender list. Open the book on the Kindle or in the Kindle app before leaving to confirm that it has reached the device.

Kobo

Laptop

Save the EPUB or PDF on the laptop and open the local file in an app that supports its format. Make sure you are opening the downloaded file rather than the Chireads page in your browser.

Test your offline setup

Test the file before you leave:

Finish downloading or delivering the story.
Turn on airplane mode.
Make sure Wi-Fi is off.
Open the EPUB or PDF in the app you plan to use.
Move through several pages.

If the story does not open, reconnect and check that the file is stored on the device instead of only appearing in an online library.

Keep the original EPUB or PDF until your trip is over. WP Downloader cannot add new chapters to an existing EPUB. If Chireads publishes more chapters, download the whole story again to get them.
