Read a Chireads Story on a Barnes & Noble NOOK
To read a Chireads story on a Barnes & Noble NOOK, download it as an EPUB with WP Downloader and copy the file to your NOOK over USB. Barnes & Noble calls copying your own files to a NOOK “sideloading.” After the transfer, you can read the story offline.
What you need
Have these ready:
- The page for the Chireads story you want to read
- A computer
- A USB cable for your NOOK
- A Barnes & Noble NOOK GlowLight
Chireads stories are in French. A story URL looks like this:

Step 1: Download the Chireads story as an EPUB
Open the Chireads downloader in your browser. WP Downloader is a free web tool, so you do not need to install anything.
Copy the Chireads story URL from your browser’s address bar and paste it into WP Downloader.
Choose EPUB as the output format. EPUB downloads are free for everyone, and EPUB is the format used in this guide. WP Downloader also offers PDF downloads with a free Discord sign-in.
Select the image option before downloading if you want to include the story’s images.
WP Downloader downloads the complete Chireads story. It cannot download a single chapter or a list of stories from this site. Chireads support, along with support for the other fiction archives available through WP Downloader, was ported from the open-source FanFicFare downloader.

Step 2: Connect your NOOK to the computer
Connect your NOOK GlowLight to the computer with its USB cable.
On newer models, swipe down from the top of the screen, tap “USB for charging,” and choose “Transfer files (MTP).”
The NOOK will appear on the computer as a drive named “NOOK.”
Step 3: Copy the EPUB to your NOOK
Find the EPUB file you downloaded from WP Downloader.
Open the NOOK drive on your computer and drag the EPUB onto it. Wait for the transfer to finish before disconnecting the device.
Barnes & Noble calls this process sideloading because you are copying your own EPUB file to the NOOK.
Step 4: Eject the NOOK
Use your computer’s eject option to eject the NOOK drive before unplugging the cable.
Once the NOOK has been ejected, disconnect the USB cable. The Chireads story is now on the device and ready to read offline.
Getting new chapters later
WP Downloader cannot add new chapters to an EPUB already on your NOOK. If the Chireads story gets new chapters, paste its link into WP Downloader again and download a new copy of the complete story.
Connect the NOOK and copy the new EPUB to it using the same steps.
