How to Read Fiction.live Stories Offline on a Flight

Download your Fiction.live story before you leave, save it as an EPUB or PDF, and put it on the device you plan to use. Check that the book opens before turning on airplane mode. Once the file is on your device, you can read it without Wi-Fi.

Download the Fiction.live story before your flight

WP Downloader is a free web tool with nothing to install. While you still have an internet connection:

1. Open the Fiction.live downloader.
2. Copy the Fiction.live story URL from your browser.
3. Paste the link into WP Downloader.
4. Choose EPUB or PDF.
5. Choose whether to include the story’s images.
6. Download the book to your device.

A Fiction.live story URL usually looks like this:

Links from fiction.live and beta.fiction.live both work. You do not need to sign in to Fiction.live.

WP Downloader saves the whole story. It cannot download individual chapters or lists. If new chapters are added later, download the story again to get a new copy. WPD cannot update an EPUB you already have.

Choose a format and device

Your choice depends on the device and reading app you use.

Phone or tablet

Choose EPUB if your reading app opens EPUB books. Choose PDF if you prefer fixed pages or already use an app that opens PDFs. Creating a PDF with WP Downloader requires a free Discord sign-in.

Download the file to the phone or tablet you will carry, or move it there before you leave. Open it in your reading app while you are still online to confirm that the file is there and the app can read it.

Kindle e-reader or Kindle app

Download the story as an EPUB and send it through Amazon’s Send to Kindle service before your flight. Amazon accepts EPUB and PDF files. It converts EPUB files, then adds the book to your Kindle library on Kindle e-readers and in the Kindle app. You can send the file by email, with the Send to Kindle app, or on the web.

Files emailed to your Kindle’s Send-to-Kindle address must come from an approved sender email. Send to Kindle no longer accepts MOBI files.

Delivery needs an internet connection. Send the book before the flight, wait for it to appear on your Kindle or in the Kindle app, and open it once before you leave. The Fiction.live Kindle guide has the full steps.

Kobo

Download the Fiction.live story as an EPUB and put the file on the Kobo you plan to carry. Do this while you still have internet access, then open the book to check that it is ready. See the Fiction.live Kobo guide for detailed device instructions.

Test the book in airplane mode

Test the book before you leave:

1. Finish downloading or delivering it.
2. Open it on the device and in the app you will use.
3. Turn on airplane mode.
4. Open the book again and move through a few pages.
5. Check that any included story images appear.

If the story opens, it is stored on your device. You can keep airplane mode on and read without Wi-Fi.

Before leaving for the airport, check that:

• You downloaded the whole Fiction.live story.
• You chose EPUB or PDF for your reading app.
• You included images if you want them in the book.
• The file is on the device you are taking.
• Kindle delivery is complete if you used Send to Kindle.
• The story opens in airplane mode.

Can I read a downloaded Fiction.live story without Wi-Fi?
