How to Read FictionAlley Archive Stories in KOReader
To read a FictionAlley Archive story in KOReader, download the whole story as an EPUB with WP Downloader, copy the file to your device, and open it from KOReader’s file browser. WP Downloader is a free web tool, so you do not need to install anything.
Download the FictionAlley story as an EPUB
Find the story page on fictionalley-archive.org or fictionalley.org. Its URL may look like this:
https://www.fictionalley-archive.org/authors/drt/DA.html Copy the story URL and open the FictionAlley Archive downloader. Paste the link into the box, and WP Downloader will detect the site.
Choose EPUB as the output format. EPUB downloads are free for everyone, and KOReader can open the files. You can also include the story’s images in the downloaded book.
For FictionAlley Archive, WP Downloader downloads the whole story. It does not download individual chapters or lists of stories. You do not need to sign in to FictionAlley.
You can also download the story as a PDF, but that option requires a free Discord sign-in. KOReader opens both EPUB and PDF, though EPUB is usually the simpler choice for an ebook.
The FictionAlley story download guide covers this process in more detail.
Copy the EPUB to your device
After the download finishes, find the EPUB on your phone or computer. How you transfer it depends on the device running KOReader.
Kobo or PocketBook
Connect the ereader to your computer with USB and copy the EPUB to the device. Place it in a folder you can easily find, then safely disconnect the ereader.
KOReader runs on Kobo and PocketBook devices. Installing it on Kobo is a separate, unofficial process, so it should already be installed before you transfer the book.
For instructions focused on Kobo, see how to read FictionAlley stories on Kobo.
Android
Move the EPUB to a folder that KOReader can access. A file downloaded directly to the Android device may already be in its downloads folder. If the file is on a computer, transfer it to the device using your usual Android file-transfer method.
Jailbroken Kindle
KOReader runs on Kindles that have been jailbroken. Installing it on a Kindle is a separate, unofficial process and is outside the scope of this guide.
Once KOReader is installed, copy the EPUB to the Kindle over USB. You can also read the guide to sending FictionAlley stories to Kindle.
Open the FictionAlley story in KOReader
Open KOReader and use its file browser to find the folder containing the EPUB. Select the file to start reading.
The complete process is:
- Copy the FictionAlley Archive story URL.
- Paste it into WP Downloader.
- Download the whole story as an EPUB.
- Copy the EPUB to your Kobo, PocketBook, Android device, or jailbroken Kindle.
- Find the file in KOReader and open it.
Because the story is stored on your device, you can read the downloaded copy offline.
Download newer chapters
WP Downloader cannot update an EPUB you have already downloaded. If the FictionAlley Archive story receives new chapters or other changes, paste its link into WP Downloader again and download the story once more.
Transfer the new EPUB to your device, then open it in KOReader.
