How to Read FictionAlley Archive Stories on a NOOK
To read a FictionAlley Archive story on a Barnes & Noble NOOK, download it as an EPUB with WP Downloader and copy the file to your NOOK over USB. Barnes & Noble calls copying your own files to a NOOK “sideloading.”
WP Downloader is a free web tool, so you do not need to install anything.
What you need
Have these ready:
- The FictionAlley Archive story page
- A computer with access to WP Downloader
- Your NOOK GlowLight and its USB cable
A FictionAlley story URL looks like this:
https://www.fictionalley-archive.org/authors/drt/DA.html Use the page for the complete story. WP Downloader downloads whole FictionAlley stories, not individual chapters or lists.
Step 1: Download the story as an EPUB
Open the FictionAlley downloader in your browser. You can also paste the link into the box on the WP Downloader home page, which will detect that the story comes from FictionAlley Archive.
- Copy the FictionAlley story URL from your browser.
- Paste it into WP Downloader.
- Choose EPUB as the output format.
- Choose whether to include the story’s images.
- Download the finished EPUB to your computer.
You do not need a FictionAlley account or sign-in. FictionAlley Archive stories are in English, and WP Downloader puts the complete story into one EPUB.
EPUB downloads are free for everyone. WP Downloader can also create a PDF with a free Discord sign-in, but you will need the EPUB for the NOOK instructions below. It does not create MOBI, AZW3, or TXT files.
FictionAlley Archive support was ported from FanFicFare, the open-source fanfiction downloader.
See how to download FictionAlley stories for more help with the download.
Step 2: Connect your NOOK
Connect your NOOK GlowLight to the computer with its USB cable.
The NOOK may appear automatically as a drive named “NOOK.” On a newer model, you may need to turn on file transfers:
- Swipe down from the top of the NOOK screen.
- Tap “USB for charging.”
- Choose “Transfer files (MTP).”
Your computer should now show the NOOK as a connected device or drive.
Step 3: Copy the EPUB to your NOOK
Find the EPUB you downloaded, open the connected NOOK drive, and drag the file onto it.
Wait for the transfer to finish. Eject the NOOK from your computer before unplugging the cable. You can then open the EPUB on your NOOK and read it offline.
If the story gains new chapters, download it again and transfer the new EPUB. WP Downloader cannot update an EPUB you have already downloaded.
Other ways to read FictionAlley stories
You can also use the EPUB with other compatible reading devices. See the guides for sending FictionAlley stories to Kindle or reading FictionAlley stories on Kobo.
