How to read a FictionAlley Archive story on a tolino eReader
To read a FictionAlley Archive story on a tolino eReader, download the complete story as an EPUB with WP Downloader and copy the file into the Books folder on your tolino. EPUB downloads are free, and you do not need to install anything.
Download the FictionAlley Archive story as an EPUB
Find the story you want on fictionalley-archive.org or fictionalley.org and copy its story page URL. It should look like this:
https://www.fictionalley-archive.org/authors/drt/DA.html Then:
- Open the FictionAlley Archive downloader.
- Paste the story URL into the download box.
- Choose EPUB as the output format.
- Choose whether to include the story’s images.
- Start the download and save the finished EPUB to your computer.
You do not need a FictionAlley account or sign-in. For this archive, WP Downloader downloads the whole story. It does not download individual chapters or lists of stories.
EPUB is the appropriate format for a tolino eReader. WP Downloader can also create a PDF with a free Discord sign-in, but tolino devices can read EPUB files directly.
Support for FictionAlley Archive was ported from FanFicFare, the open-source fanfiction downloader. For more help with the download process, see how to download FictionAlley stories.
Transfer the EPUB to your tolino
Connect the tolino to your computer with its USB-C cable.
1. Wait for the computer to detect the reader
Allow a moment for the computer to recognize the tolino. The tolino vision 6, shine 4, and epos 3 use MTP for USB transfers, so they may appear as connected devices instead of conventional removable drives.
2. Open the tolino storage
Open the tolino in your computer’s file browser and find the folder named Books.
3. Copy the EPUB into the Books folder
Find the EPUB created by WP Downloader and copy it into the Books folder on the tolino.
Wait for the transfer to finish completely. Do not unplug the cable while the file is copying, as this can leave the file incomplete.
4. Disconnect the tolino
Once the transfer has finished, disconnect the tolino from the computer and unplug the USB-C cable. You can then open the story on the reader.
Tolino also provides a cloud for purchased books. This method transfers your FictionAlley EPUB directly over USB.
Reading updated stories
WP Downloader cannot add new chapters to an EPUB you have already downloaded. If a FictionAlley Archive story changes or gains new material, return to the FictionAlley Archive downloader, paste the story link again, and download a new copy.
Transfer the new EPUB to the Books folder using the same steps. You can keep the old file or replace it. The new download contains the complete story instead of updating the earlier EPUB.
Other ways to read FictionAlley stories
You can also use the EPUB on other devices. Kobo readers can follow the guide to read FictionAlley stories on Kobo. Kindle users can follow the guide to send FictionAlley stories to Kindle.
On a tolino, download the whole story as an EPUB, connect the reader with a USB-C cable, and copy the file into the Books folder.
