How to Read Lumos Stories in KOReader

To read a Lumos story in KOReader, download the complete story as an EPUB with WP Downloader, copy the file to your device, and open it from KOReader’s file browser. Once the EPUB is on your device, you can read it offline.

What you need

You need a story link from lumos.sycophanthex.com, the WP Downloader page for Lumos, and a device running KOReader.

KOReader is a free, open-source document reader for Kobo, PocketBook, and Android devices. It also runs on Kindles that have been jailbroken. It can open EPUB and PDF files. EPUB is the simpler option for this guide because WP Downloader provides it free to everyone.

Step 1: Download the Lumos story

WP Downloader is a web tool, so you do not need to install anything. Lumos downloads do not require an account.

1. Open the Lumos story downloader.
2. Copy the URL of the Lumos story.
3. Paste it into the downloader box.
4. Choose EPUB as the output format.
5. Choose whether to include the story’s images.
6. Download the finished EPUB to your phone or computer.

WP Downloader downloads the complete story from Lumos. It cannot download a single chapter or a story list from this archive.

PDF is also available, but creating one requires a free Discord sign-in. WP Downloader does not create MOBI, AZW3, or TXT files.

Step 2: Copy the EPUB to your device

How you transfer the file depends on the device running KOReader.

Kobo or PocketBook

Connect the e-reader to your computer with USB. Copy the EPUB to a folder on the device, then safely disconnect it.

Open KOReader, find that folder in its file browser, and select the EPUB.

Android phone or tablet

Move the EPUB to your Android device with your usual file-transfer method. A file downloaded directly to Android may already be in the device’s download folder.

Open KOReader, browse to the saved EPUB, and select it. You will not need an internet connection to read it.

Jailbroken Kindle

KOReader runs only on Kindles that have been jailbroken. Installing it is unofficial and separate from using WP Downloader.

If KOReader is already installed, connect the Kindle to your computer and copy the EPUB over USB. Open KOReader, find the file in its browser, and select it.

Step 3: Open the story in KOReader

Open KOReader and use its file browser to find the folder containing the EPUB. Select the file to start reading the Lumos story offline.

You can keep the original EPUB on your computer or phone if you may want to copy it to another supported device. WP Downloader cannot add new chapters to an existing EPUB. When the author updates the story, use the Lumos downloader to download it again.
