Read MediaMiner Stories in Apple Books

To read a MediaMiner story in Apple Books, download it as an EPUB with WP Downloader and import the file on your iPhone, iPad, or Mac. WP Downloader runs in your browser, so there is nothing to install. You do not need to sign in to MediaMiner.

Download the MediaMiner story as an EPUB

Find the story on mediaminer.org. Its address should look like this:

Copy the full link from your browser’s address bar. Use the story page rather than a category or search page.

Open the MediaMiner Downloader, paste the link into the box, and download the story. WP Downloader recognizes the MediaMiner link and downloads the whole story without requiring an account.

Choose EPUB as the output format. EPUB is free for everyone and opens in Apple Books. You can also include the story’s images.

PDF is available too, but it requires a free Discord sign-in. EPUB is usually the simpler option for Apple Books.

For MediaMiner, WP Downloader downloads whole stories rather than individual chapters or lists. If the author adds chapters later, download the story again to create a new EPUB with the latest available chapters. WPD cannot update a file you downloaded earlier.

Add the story to Apple Books on iPhone or iPad

After downloading the EPUB, open it from Safari’s downloads or the Files app and share it to Apple Books.

From Safari’s downloads

1. Open Safari’s downloads and select the MediaMiner EPUB.
2. Tap the Share button.
3. Choose Books.
4. Apple Books will import the file into your Library.

Open the story from your Apple Books Library when you are ready to read.

From the Files app

If the EPUB is already saved in Files, find it and tap it. Open the Share menu and choose Books. The story will appear in your Apple Books Library.

These steps work on both iPhone and iPad. Apple Books can also open a PDF downloaded from WP Downloader.

Add the story to Apple Books on Mac

Download the EPUB, then open the Books app on your Mac. Import it in either of these ways:

• Drag the EPUB into the Books app.
• In Books, choose File, then Add to Library, and select the EPUB.

The MediaMiner story will appear in your Library after it has been imported.

Apple Books also accepts PDF files on Mac. You can add a downloaded PDF by dragging it into Books or using Add to Library.

If the story gets new chapters

The imported book contains the chapters that were available when you downloaded it. WP Downloader does not add later chapters to an existing EPUB.

Return to the MediaMiner Downloader, paste the story link again, and download a new EPUB. Import the new file into Apple Books to read the added chapters.
