How to Read MediaMiner Stories in the Kindle App
To read a MediaMiner story in the Kindle app, download it as an EPUB with WP Downloader and send the file to your Kindle library. WP Downloader is a free web tool, so there is nothing to install.
Download the MediaMiner story as an EPUB
Find the story on mediaminer.org and copy its full URL from your browser. A MediaMiner story link looks like this:
https://www.mediaminer.org/fanfic/s/category-name/story-title/123456 Open the MediaMiner downloader, paste the link into the box, and start the download. WP Downloader recognizes the MediaMiner link and downloads the complete story. You do not need to sign in to MediaMiner.
Choose EPUB as the output format. EPUB downloads are free for everyone, and Amazon accepts EPUB files through Send to Kindle. You can also choose whether to include the story’s images.
For MediaMiner, WP Downloader downloads whole stories rather than individual chapters or lists. Use the main story URL when starting the download. The guide to downloading MediaMiner stories covers this process in more detail.
Send the EPUB to your Kindle library
Send the downloaded EPUB through Amazon’s Send to Kindle service. Amazon converts the file and adds the book to your Kindle library.
You can transfer it in three ways:
- Upload it on the Send to Kindle website.
- Use the Send to Kindle app.
- Email it to your Kindle’s Send-to-Kindle address.
If you send the file by email, you must use an approved sender address for your Kindle account.
WP Downloader can also create a PDF, but PDF downloads require a free Discord sign-in. Send to Kindle accepts both EPUB and PDF.
WP Downloader does not create MOBI, AZW3, or TXT files. Amazon no longer accepts MOBI files through Send to Kindle.
See the Send to Kindle guide for details about each transfer method. There is also a guide specifically for sending MediaMiner stories to Kindle.
Open the story in the Kindle app
After Amazon processes the EPUB, open the Kindle app on your phone or tablet and find the story in your Kindle library. Select it to download the book to your device and begin reading.
The converted story can also appear in the same Kindle library on Kindle e-readers.
Get new chapters later
WP Downloader cannot add chapters to an EPUB you already downloaded. If the MediaMiner author publishes more chapters, copy the story URL again and download the complete story as a new EPUB.
Send the new file to Kindle using the same method as before. Amazon will then process the latest copy of the story.
To use another reading device, follow the guide to reading MediaMiner stories on Kobo.
