How to Read a MediaMiner Story on Android
You can read a MediaMiner story offline on an Android phone or tablet by downloading the whole story as an EPUB or PDF with WP Downloader, then opening the file in a compatible reading app.
Download the MediaMiner story
WP Downloader is a free web tool that does not need to be installed. You also do not need a MediaMiner account.
Find the story on mediaminer.org. Its address should look like this:
https://www.mediaminer.org/fanfic/s/category-name/story-title/123456Copy the full story URL and open the MediaMiner Downloader. Paste the link into the box. WP Downloader will detect the site and offer two formats:
- EPUB is free for everyone and works with Android apps that support EPUB files.
- PDF requires a free Discord sign-in.
You can choose whether to include the story’s images. Start the download and save the finished file to your Android phone or tablet.
WP Downloader downloads the whole story from MediaMiner. It cannot download a single chapter or a story list. If the author posts more chapters, download the story again to create an updated EPUB or PDF.

Open the EPUB in an Android reading app
Open the downloaded EPUB with an app that supports the format. If Android asks you to choose an app, select your preferred e-book reader.
Moon+ Reader and Google Play Books both work with EPUB files.
Read with Moon+ Reader
Moon+ Reader can open the downloaded EPUB directly. Once you add the file, you can read the story as an e-book.
The app also has a built-in text-to-speech mode for reading EPUB files aloud.
Upload it to Google Play Books
Google Play Books accepts DRM-free EPUB and PDF files. You can upload the story through the Play Books Android app, or use the Play Books website to upload it from a computer or Google Drive.
Once uploaded, the book is available in Google Play Books on Android, the web, and iPhone or iPad.
Google has an upload size limit, so very large books may fail to upload. In that case, open the downloaded file directly in another compatible Android reader.
Open the PDF on Android
If you chose PDF, open the downloaded file in an Android app that supports PDF documents.
You can also upload a DRM-free PDF to Google Play Books using the same process as an EPUB.
Listen to the story on Android
You have three options for reading the downloaded story aloud:
- Turn on Select to Speak in Android’s Accessibility settings, then tap items on the screen to hear them.
- Open the EPUB in Moon+ Reader and use its built-in text-to-speech mode.
- Open the EPUB in @Voice Aloud Reader.
All three options use the text-to-speech voices installed on your device. The available voices determine how natural the narration sounds.
Keep the downloaded file
Keep the original EPUB or PDF after adding it to a reading app. You can open or import the same file again if you change apps later.
WP Downloader does not add new chapters to an existing EPUB. When the MediaMiner story changes, return to the MediaMiner Downloader and download the whole story again.

Do I need a MediaMiner account?
No. WP Downloader can download MediaMiner stories without a MediaMiner sign-in.
Should I choose EPUB or PDF for Android?
Choose EPUB if you want to use an e-book app such as Moon+ Reader. EPUB is free for everyone. PDF requires a free Discord sign-in.
Can I download one MediaMiner chapter?
No. WP Downloader downloads whole MediaMiner stories. It does not download individual chapters or lists.
Can Android read the story aloud?
