How to read an MTT Just Once story in KOReader
To read an MTT Just Once story in KOReader, download the complete story as an EPUB with WP Downloader, copy the file to your device, and open it from KOReader’s file browser. KOReader runs on Kobo, PocketBook, and Android devices, as well as Kindles that have been jailbroken.
What you need
Find the MTT Just Once story page you want to save. A link from mtt.just-once.net looks like this:
http://mtt.just-once.net/fanfiction/viewstory.php?sid=1234 You do not need an MTT Just Once account. WP Downloader is a free web tool, and there is nothing to install on your phone or computer.
KOReader must already be on your reading device. It is a free, open-source document reader that opens EPUB and PDF files.
Installing KOReader on a Kobo or Kindle is a separate, unofficial process, so this guide only covers downloading and transferring the story. A Kindle must be jailbroken to run KOReader.
Step 1: Download the story with WP Downloader
Open the MTT Just Once downloader and follow these steps:
- Copy the link to the story on mtt.just-once.net.
- Paste the link into the downloader box.
- Choose EPUB as the output format.
- Turn on the image option if you want to include the story’s images.
- Download the finished file to your phone or computer.
EPUB is free for everyone. PDF is also available, but it requires a free Discord sign-in.
WP Downloader downloads the whole story from MTT Just Once. It cannot download a single chapter or a list of stories from this archive. Support for MTT Just Once was ported from FanFicFare, the open-source fanfiction downloader.
For more help with the download, see how to download MTT Just Once stories.
Step 2: Copy the EPUB to your device
After the EPUB finishes downloading, move it to the device where you use KOReader.
Kobo or PocketBook
Connect your e-reader to your computer with USB. Copy the EPUB to the device as usual, then safely disconnect it.
Put the file somewhere you can easily find from KOReader’s file browser.
If you use a Kobo without KOReader, follow the separate Kobo reading guide.
Android phone or tablet
If you downloaded the EPUB on your Android device, leave it in a folder you can access, such as your usual downloads folder. If the file is on a computer, copy it to the Android device with your usual file-transfer method.
Jailbroken Kindle
Connect the Kindle to your computer with USB and copy the EPUB to the device. You can then open it in KOReader.
Installing KOReader on a Kindle is unofficial and requires a jailbroken device. To use the regular Kindle reading workflow instead, follow the guide to sending MTT Just Once stories to Kindle.
Step 3: Open the story in KOReader
Open KOReader and use its file browser to find the folder containing the EPUB. Select the file to start reading.
If the story does not appear, check that you are viewing the folder where you copied or downloaded it.
You can follow the same process with a PDF. Copy the file to your device, find it in KOReader’s file browser, and open it. EPUB does not require a sign-in to download, while PDF requires a free Discord sign-in.
Get newly added chapters
WP Downloader cannot update an EPUB already stored on your device. When the author adds chapters, return to the MTT Just Once downloader, paste the story link again, and download a new copy.
Copy the new EPUB to your device and open it in KOReader.
