How to Read a SciFiStories Story on a PocketBook E-Reader

To read a SciFiStories story on a PocketBook e-reader, download the whole story as an EPUB with WP Downloader and transfer the file through Send-to-PocketBook or USB. PocketBook devices can open EPUB files directly.

What you need

• An account on SciFiStories
• Access to the email account you will use with Send-to-PocketBook, or a USB cable
• A PocketBook e-reader

WP Downloader is a free web tool, so you do not need to install anything. Its support for SciFiStories was ported from FanFicFare, the open-source fanfiction downloader licensed under Apache-2.0.

Step 1: Download the SciFiStories story

Open the SciFiStories Downloader and paste the story link into the box. You can also use the box on the WP Downloader home page, which detects the site from the link.

You must sign in with your SciFiStories account. WP Downloader uses your credentials only to fetch the story you requested. It can download only the material your account can already read and cannot bypass locked content, paywalls, or age restrictions.

Choose EPUB as the output format. PocketBook e-readers support EPUB and PDF, and EPUB is designed for e-book reading. To keep images from the original story, turn on the option to include them before downloading.

You can also create a PDF, but this requires a free Discord sign-in. WP Downloader does not create MOBI, AZW3, or TXT files.

WP Downloader downloads the whole SciFiStories story. It cannot download a single chapter or a list of stories from this site.

When the download is ready, save the EPUB somewhere you can find it again.

Step 2: Set up Send-to-PocketBook

Send-to-PocketBook gives your reader its own email address. You can send the EPUB to that address and then sync the device.

On your PocketBook:

1. Open Settings.
2. Select Accounts and synchronization.
3. Select Send-to-PocketBook.
4. Sign in and follow the setup instructions.
5. Open the activation email.
6. Note your personal Send-to-PocketBook address, which ends in @pbsync.com.

You usually need to set this up only once.

Step 3: Email the EPUB to your PocketBook

Create an email from the address you used during setup. Attach the EPUB and send it to your @pbsync.com address.

If the file does not arrive, check whether your sending address is on the approved list. Send-to-PocketBook may ask you to whitelist it before accepting attachments.

Sync your PocketBook after sending the email. Once the EPUB appears on the reader, open it to start reading.

Transfer the story with USB

You can also copy the EPUB to your PocketBook with a USB cable:

1. Connect the PocketBook to your computer.
2. Open the PocketBook storage on the computer.
3. Copy the EPUB to the reader.
4. Safely disconnect the device.
5. Find the story on the PocketBook and open it.

USB is useful if you have not set up Send-to-PocketBook or the emailed file has not arrived.

Getting updated chapters

WP Downloader cannot add new chapters to an EPUB you have already downloaded. If the author publishes more chapters, return to the SciFiStories Downloader and download the whole story again. Transfer the new EPUB to your PocketBook by email or USB.
