Reading SquidgeWorld Stories on a Flight

Download the SquidgeWorld Archive story before you leave, open it in your reading app, and test it with airplane mode turned on. Once the EPUB or PDF is saved on your device, you can read it without Wi-Fi.

Download the SquidgeWorld story before your flight

WP Downloader is a free web tool, and you do not need to install anything. While you still have an internet connection:

1. Open the SquidgeWorld Downloader.
2. Copy the SquidgeWorld story URL. It should look like this:

3. Paste the URL into WP Downloader.
4. Choose EPUB or PDF.
5. Choose whether to include the story’s images.
6. Download the file to your device.

EPUB is free for everyone. Creating a PDF requires a free Discord sign-in.

WP Downloader downloads the whole story from SquidgeWorld Archive. It cannot download individual chapters or lists. If the author adds more chapters later, download the story again to get a copy that includes them.

Members-only stories

You do not need a SquidgeWorld account to download public stories. For a members-only story, sign in with your SquidgeWorld account. WP Downloader can then fetch the story if your account is allowed to read it.

The tool only downloads content your account can already access. It does not bypass membership requirements, age restrictions, or other access controls. Your account credentials are used only to fetch the story you requested.

Choose your device and reading app

The format to choose depends on where you plan to read.

Phone or tablet

EPUB works with reading apps that support EPUB files. Download the file directly to your phone or tablet, then open it in your chosen app.

You can also download a PDF and open it in a PDF reader. Before leaving, check that the file is stored on the device and does not exist only on the download page. Open it and turn a few pages to make sure the app can read it.

Kindle e-reader or Kindle app

Choose EPUB or PDF in WP Downloader, then use Amazon’s Send to Kindle service before your flight. Amazon accepts both formats. It converts EPUB files and adds the books to your Kindle library, where you can open them on a Kindle e-reader or in the Kindle app.

You can send the file:

• By email to your Kindle’s Send-to-Kindle address
• Through the Send to Kindle app
• Through Send to Kindle on the web

When sending by email, use an address on your approved sender list. Send to Kindle no longer accepts MOBI files, and WP Downloader does not create MOBI or AZW3 files.

Send to Kindle needs an internet connection to deliver the book. Send it before the flight, wait for your Kindle or Kindle app to download it, and open it before leaving Wi-Fi. The SquidgeWorld Kindle guide explains the full process.

Kobo

Download the story as an EPUB and add it to your Kobo before you travel. Follow the guide to reading SquidgeWorld stories on Kobo, then confirm that the book opens on the device.

Laptop

Download the EPUB or PDF to your laptop’s local storage. Open EPUB files in an EPUB reader and PDFs in a PDF reader. Check the file before your trip to make sure the download is complete and your reading app can open it.

Test everything in airplane mode

Test the story offline before you leave:

1. Open the downloaded story on the device you will carry.
2. Turn on airplane mode.
3. Close and reopen the reading app.
4. Open the story again.
5. Move through several pages or chapters.

If the story opens again, it is stored on the device and ready to read during the flight. If it does not open, reconnect to the internet and download or deliver it again.

Repeat the test on every device you plan to use. Saving the file on your phone does not also save it on your Kindle, Kobo, tablet, or laptop.

Before you leave

• Download the complete story with WP Downloader.
• Save the EPUB or PDF on the device you are taking.
• Send the book to Kindle before leaving Wi-Fi.
• Open the book in your reading app.
• Test it with airplane mode turned on.
• Download the story again if you need newly added chapters.
