How to Read StoryRoom Stories on Android

WP Downloader can save a StoryRoom story as an EPUB or PDF for reading on an Android phone or tablet. EPUB is free for everyone and opens in apps such as Google Play Books and Moon+ Reader.

Download a StoryRoom story

WP Downloader is a free web tool, with nothing to install. Go to the StoryRoom Downloader page and copy the link to the story you want.

A StoryRoom link usually looks like this:

The downloader also works with stories from finestories.com.

1. Open the StoryRoom downloader page in your Android browser.
2. Paste the story URL into the box.
3. Sign in with your account for that site.
4. Choose EPUB or PDF.
5. Choose whether to include the story’s images.
6. Download the file to your phone or tablet.

You need an account on StoryRoom or finestories.com to download a story. WP Downloader uses your credentials only to fetch the story you requested. It can download only the content that your account can already read, and it does not bypass locked chapters, paywalls, or age restrictions.

WP Downloader saves the whole story. It cannot download a single chapter or a story list. To get chapters published after your download, save the story again as a new file. An existing EPUB will not update automatically.

StoryRoom support, along with support for other fiction archives in WP Downloader, was ported from the open-source fanfiction downloader FanFicFare.

Choose EPUB or PDF

EPUB works well for reading in Android e-book apps such as Google Play Books and Moon+ Reader. Anyone can create an EPUB with WP Downloader.

You can also create a PDF and open it in Google Play Books. PDF downloads require a free Discord sign-in.

WP Downloader does not create MOBI, AZW3, or TXT files.

Read the story in Google Play Books

Google Play Books accepts DRM-free EPUB and PDF files. After uploading the story, you can read it on Android, on the Play Books website, or on an iPhone or iPad.

To upload the file from your Android device:

1. Open the Google Play Books app.
2. Use the upload option to select the EPUB or PDF you downloaded.
3. Wait for the upload to finish.
4. Open the story from your Play Books library.

You can also upload the file on the Play Books website from your computer or Google Drive.

Very large stories may exceed Google’s upload size limit. If your upload fails for this reason, open the EPUB in another Android reader.

Read the story in Moon+ Reader

Moon+ Reader opens EPUB files on Android. Find the story in your downloaded files and open it with Moon+ Reader.

The app also has a built-in text-to-speech mode for listening to the story. It uses the text-to-speech voices installed on your device, so the voice quality depends on those voices.

Listen to the story on Android

Android gives you several ways to hear the downloaded story:

• Open the EPUB in Moon+ Reader and use its built-in text-to-speech mode.
• Open the EPUB in @Voice Aloud Reader.
• Turn on Select to Speak under Settings, then Accessibility. Tap an item on the screen to hear it read aloud.

Each option uses the text-to-speech voices available on your Android device.

Keep the story available offline

Keep the downloaded EPUB or PDF on your device or add it to a reading app. You can then open the file without returning to StoryRoom.

If you delete the file or want newly published chapters, return to the StoryRoom Downloader and download the whole story again.

Do I need a StoryRoom account?

Yes. You must sign in with an account on StoryRoom or finestories.com before WP Downloader can fetch the story.

Which format is best for Android?

EPUB works with Android reading apps such as Google Play Books and Moon+ Reader. PDF is also available and requires a free Discord sign-in.

Can I download only one chapter?

No. WP Downloader downloads whole StoryRoom stories. It does not download individual chapters or lists.

Can Android read the story aloud?

Yes. Moon+ Reader and @Voice Aloud Reader can read EPUB files aloud. You can also use Android’s Select to Speak accessibility feature.

Will my EPUB update when new chapters appear?

No. Download the whole story again to get the new chapters. WP Downloader does not update an existing EPUB.
