How to Read StoryRoom Stories on a Kobo

To read a StoryRoom story on a Kobo, download it as an EPUB with WP Downloader and copy the file to your e-reader. Kobo devices can open EPUB files directly.

Download the StoryRoom story as an EPUB

WP Downloader is a free web tool with nothing to install. It works with English stories from StoryRoom at storyroom.com and Fine Stories at finestories.com.

A StoryRoom link usually looks like this:

To download a story:

Open the StoryRoom downloader.
Paste the story link into the box.
Sign in with an account for that site when prompted.
Choose EPUB as the output format.
Choose whether to include the story’s images.
Download the finished EPUB to your computer or phone.

WP Downloader uses your account credentials only to fetch the story you requested. It downloads only content your account can already read and does not bypass paywalls, locked chapters, or age restrictions.

StoryRoom downloads contain the whole story. You cannot download a single chapter or a list. If the author adds more chapters, download the story again to create a new EPUB. WPD cannot update a file you downloaded earlier.

PDF is also available with a free Discord sign-in, but EPUB is the simpler format for a Kobo because the device opens it natively.

Add the EPUB to your Kobo with USB

You can copy the EPUB from a computer to your Kobo over USB:

Connect your Kobo e-reader to your computer with a USB cable.
Wait for the Kobo to appear as a drive.
Open the drive.
Copy the downloaded EPUB onto it.
Eject the Kobo from the computer.
Disconnect the cable.

The story will appear in your Kobo library after the device processes the file. You can then open it like any other book and read it offline.

If you have downloaded the story more than once, check the file name before copying it. Each new download is a complete EPUB, not an update to the copy already on your Kobo.

Add the story through Dropbox

Kobo can import non-protected EPUB and PDF files through Dropbox on these models:

Kobo Libra Colour

This option requires Kobo software version 4.18 or later. Link your Dropbox account from the e-reader, put the StoryRoom EPUB in the cloud folder, and sync the device. The imported book will appear on that Kobo only.

Add the story through Google Drive

Google Drive works on the same Kobo models:

This option requires Kobo software version 4.37 or later. On the e-reader, go to Home, then More, then My Google Drive, and select Get Started. Your Kobo will display a code. Enter it on the Kobo website to link your account.

Put the EPUB in the Google Drive folder and sync your Kobo. Once imported, the story will appear on that device only.

Read your StoryRoom story offline

Once the EPUB appears in your Kobo library, you can read the downloaded copy without an internet connection or an open StoryRoom page.
