How to read Sufficient Velocity stories in Apple Books
To read a Sufficient Velocity story in Apple Books, download it as an EPUB with WP Downloader and import the file on your iPhone, iPad, or Mac. The imported story stays in your Apple Books Library, so you can read it without returning to the forum.
Download the story with WP Downloader
Sufficient Velocity stories are forum threads. WP Downloader gathers the threadmarked chapters from a story thread into a single book.
There is no app or browser extension to install. Open the Sufficient Velocity downloader and have the story thread ready. Its URL will usually look like this:
https://forums.sufficientvelocity.com/threads/some-story-name.123456/ - Copy the URL of the Sufficient Velocity story thread.
- Paste it into the box on the downloader page.
- Choose EPUB as the output format.
- Choose whether to include the story’s images.
- Download the finished file to your device.
EPUB is free for everyone and works well with Apple Books. WP Downloader can also create a PDF, which Apple Books can open, after a free Discord sign-in.
You do not need a Sufficient Velocity account for public stories. You can sign in with an account from that site to reach members-only stories the account can already read. WP Downloader uses your credentials only to fetch the requested story and does not bypass access restrictions.
For Sufficient Velocity, WP Downloader downloads the whole story. It does not download individual chapters or lists. Support for the site was ported from FanFicFare, the open-source fanfiction downloader.

Open the EPUB in Apple Books on iPhone or iPad
After the download finishes, you can find the EPUB in Safari’s downloads or the Files app.
- Open the EPUB from Safari’s downloads or Files.
- Tap the Share button.
- Choose Books from the list of apps.
- Wait for Apple Books to import the file.
The story will appear in your Apple Books Library. Tap its cover or title to start reading.
If you cannot find an earlier download, open Files and check the folder where your browser saves downloaded files. Open the EPUB, tap Share, and choose Books.
You can import a PDF in the same way. Open the downloaded PDF, tap Share, and choose Books. Both formats can remain in your Apple Books Library, though EPUB packages the story as an ebook.
Add the story to Apple Books on Mac
Download the EPUB from WP Downloader and save it somewhere you can find easily. You can then add it to Apple Books in either of these ways:
- Open Books and drag the EPUB into the app.
- In Books, open the File menu, choose Add to Library, and select the EPUB.
The story will appear in your Library after it is imported.
The same process works for a PDF. Drag it into Books or add it through the File menu.
Get newer chapters
WP Downloader cannot add new chapters to an EPUB you have already downloaded. When the Sufficient Velocity thread gains more threadmarked chapters, paste its link into WP Downloader again and download a new copy.
Import the new EPUB into Apple Books to read the latest collected version. It will be a separate book rather than an update to the earlier file.
