How to read Syosetu stories on a PocketBook e-reader

To read a Shousetsuka ni Narou story on a PocketBook e-reader, download it as an EPUB with WP Downloader and transfer the file by email or USB. WP Downloader is a free web tool, so you do not need to install anything.

Download the Syosetu story as an EPUB

Find the story on syosetu.com. Shousetsuka ni Narou story links commonly use ncode.syosetu.com or novel18.syosetu.com and look like this:

Copy the main story URL instead of a link to an individual chapter. WP Downloader downloads the whole story from this site and does not support single chapters or lists.

Send the EPUB to your PocketBook

PocketBook e-readers support EPUB, so the file does not need to be converted. You can send it through Send-to-PocketBook or copy it over USB.

Option 1: Use Send-to-PocketBook

Send-to-PocketBook gives your reader its own email address. To set it up:

1. Open Settings on your PocketBook.
2. Select Accounts and synchronization.
3. Open Send-to-PocketBook and sign in.
4. Check your email for the activation message.
5. Complete the activation to receive your personal address ending in @pbsync.com.

Attach the EPUB from WP Downloader to an email and send it to your PocketBook address. Sync the reader to receive the book.

If the file does not arrive, check whether your sending email address is on the approved list. Send-to-PocketBook may ask you to whitelist the address before accepting its attachments. After approving the address, send the EPUB again and sync the reader.

Option 2: Copy the EPUB over USB

Connect your PocketBook to your computer with a USB cable and copy the downloaded EPUB to the reader. You can use this method if you do not want to set up Send-to-PocketBook or the emailed file does not appear.

When the transfer finishes, disconnect the reader and open the book from its library.

Read the story offline

Once the EPUB is on your PocketBook, you can open it like any other book and read it without returning to syosetu.com. This can be useful for long Japanese web novels and when you do not have a reliable internet connection.

WP Downloader cannot add newly published chapters to an EPUB you have already downloaded. When the author updates the story, paste its link into WP Downloader again and download a new copy.
