Do Dokuga Stories Count Toward Apple Books Reading Goals?
You can read downloaded Dokuga stories in Apple Books. Apple does not say whether EPUB files you import yourself count toward your daily reading time, so you will need to test the story after adding it. PDFs count when the Include PDFs setting is enabled.
Download a Dokuga story with WP Downloader
WP Downloader is a free web tool and does not require an installation. Open the Dokuga downloader and copy the link to the story you want.
A Dokuga story link looks like this:
http://www.dokuga.com/fanfiction/story/1234/1Paste the link into WP Downloader. It recognizes dokuga.com and downloads the entire story, even when the URL points to a particular chapter. You cannot download individual Dokuga chapters or lists separately.
Choose a format:
- EPUB is free for everyone and opens in Apple Books.
- PDF requires a free Discord sign-in. It can count toward Reading Goals when Apple Books is set to include PDFs.
- Enable the image option if you want to include the story’s images.
You do not need to sign in to Dokuga for public stories. For members-only stories, you can sign in with your Dokuga account so WP Downloader can fetch content that account can already read. It cannot bypass access restrictions.

Add the story to Apple Books
Apple Books opens EPUB and PDF files on iPhone, iPad, and Mac. Imported stories appear in your Library.
On iPhone or iPad
After downloading the file:
- Open it from the Files app or Safari’s downloads.
- Tap Share.
- Choose Books.
Apple Books will open and add the story to your Library.
On Mac
Open the Books app and drag the downloaded EPUB into it. You can also open the File menu, choose Add to Library, and select the file.
The imported story will appear in your Library.
How Apple Books Reading Goals work
Reading Goals track:
- How many minutes you read each day, with a default goal of five minutes
- How many books and audiobooks you finish each year
On an iPhone or iPad, you can change the daily goal from the Reading Now tab. On a Mac, you can change it from Home.
Adding a Dokuga story to your Library does not confirm that its reading time will count. Apple does not document whether EPUB files you import yourself contribute to daily reading time.
Check whether your imported EPUB counts
Test the imported story in Apple Books:
- Check today’s reading time and note the current total.
- Open the imported Dokuga EPUB.
- Read for a minute or two.
- Return to your Reading Goal.
- Check whether today’s reading time increased.
If the total goes up, Apple Books is counting the time you spend reading that EPUB on your device. If it stays the same, the EPUB’s presence in your Library does not mean its reading time is being counted.
Make PDFs count toward your goal
PDFs count only when Include PDFs is turned on.
On current versions of iOS, open Settings, choose Apps, then Books, and enable Include PDFs. On older versions, open Settings, choose Books, and turn on the same option.
Once enabled, open the PDF in Apple Books. Note today’s reading time, read for a minute or two, and check whether the total increases.
