How to Put MuggleNet Stories on a Kindle with calibre and USB
You can put a MuggleNet Fan Fiction story on a Kindle without using Amazon’s Send to Kindle service. Download the complete story as an EPUB with WP Downloader, convert it to AZW3 in calibre, and transfer it to your Kindle over USB.
What you need

- The URL of a MuggleNet Fan Fiction story
- A computer running Windows, macOS, or Linux
- calibre, a free e-book manager
- A Kindle and USB cable

Step 1: Copy the MuggleNet story link
Open the story on mugglenetfanfiction.com and copy its address from your browser. A story URL looks like this:

Step 2: Download the story with WP Downloader
Open the MuggleNet story downloader and paste the link into the box. WP Downloader will recognize the site and prepare the story for download.
Choose EPUB as the output format. EPUB downloads are free for everyone, and calibre can convert the file to a Kindle format. You can also include the story’s images.
You do not need an account for public stories. If a story is available only to members, you can sign in with your MuggleNet Fan Fiction account to download content that account can already read. WP Downloader uses your credentials only to fetch the story you requested. It cannot bypass paywalls, locked content, or age restrictions.
Save the EPUB somewhere easy to find, such as your downloads folder.
WP Downloader does not create AZW3 or MOBI files. You will convert the EPUB to AZW3 in calibre.
Step 3: Add the EPUB to calibre
Open calibre and select Add books. Find the EPUB you downloaded and add it to your calibre library.
The story will appear in your library. You can edit its metadata or cover before transferring it, although this is optional.
Step 4: Convert the story to AZW3
Select the story in calibre and choose the option to convert books. Set the output format to AZW3, then start the conversion.
AZW3 is a Kindle format suited to USB transfers. calibre can also convert EPUB files to MOBI or PDF, but this guide uses AZW3.
Amazon’s Send to Kindle service no longer accepts MOBI files. Kindle devices can still open MOBI and AZW3 files copied over USB.
Step 5: Connect your Kindle over USB
Connect the Kindle to your computer with its USB cable and leave calibre open while it connects.
When calibre recognizes the Kindle, select the converted story and choose Send to device. calibre will transfer the Kindle-compatible file to the e-reader.
Wait for the transfer to finish before disconnecting the cable. You can then open the story on your Kindle and read it offline.
Read the story on your computer
You can also read the downloaded story without a Kindle. calibre includes an e-book viewer that opens EPUB files on your computer and has a Read aloud feature.

Update a story with new chapters
WP Downloader cannot add new chapters to an EPUB you already downloaded. If the MuggleNet story is updated, download the complete story again.
Add the new EPUB to calibre, convert it to AZW3, and transfer the new version to your Kindle over USB. The replacement copy will contain the chapters available when you downloaded it.
