Read AltHistory Stories on a PocketBook E-Reader

To read an AltHistory story on a PocketBook e-reader, download the thread as an EPUB with WP Downloader and transfer the file by email or USB. PocketBook reads EPUB and PDF files, so no conversion is needed.

Download the AltHistory story

AltHistory stories are forum threads. WP Downloader collects a thread’s threadmarked chapters and combines them into one book.

WP Downloader is a free web tool, and there is nothing to install. You do not need an AltHistory account.

1. Copy the story link

Open the AltHistory story thread and copy its URL from your browser’s address bar. A story link looks like this:

https://althistory.com/threads/some-story-name.123456/

2. Paste the link into WP Downloader

Open the AltHistory downloader, paste the story link into the box, and start the download.

WP Downloader downloads the whole story from AltHistory. It cannot download a single chapter or a list. For more help with this step, see how to download AltHistory stories.

3. Choose a file format

Choose one of the formats that PocketBook supports:

• EPUB is free for everyone.
• PDF requires a free Discord sign-in.

You can also choose whether to include the story’s images. The steps below use an EPUB.

Send the EPUB by email

Send-to-PocketBook gives you a personal email address for transferring books to your reader.

1. Set up Send-to-PocketBook

On the PocketBook reader, open Settings, then Accounts and synchronization, then Send-to-PocketBook. Sign in and check your email for the activation message.

After activation, you will receive a personal address ending in @pbsync.com.

2. Email the EPUB

Create an email from your usual account and send it to your @pbsync.com address. Attach the EPUB downloaded from WP Downloader.

PocketBook may ask you to add the sending email address to its approved list. If the file does not arrive, check that the address is approved.

3. Sync the reader

Sync your PocketBook after sending the email. The EPUB will then download to the reader for offline reading.

If it does not appear, check that you used the correct @pbsync.com address, attached the EPUB, approved the sending address if asked, and synced the reader after sending the email.

Copy the story over USB

You can also copy the file directly from a computer:

1. Connect the PocketBook to your computer with a USB cable.
2. Open the reader’s storage in your file manager.
3. Copy the EPUB or PDF to the reader.
4. Eject the PocketBook, then disconnect it.

You can now open the story on the PocketBook without using Send-to-PocketBook.

Download new chapters

WP Downloader cannot add chapters to an EPUB you already have. When the AltHistory thread gets new threadmarked chapters, open the AltHistory downloader again and download the story as a new file.
