Track AltHistory Stories on Goodreads, StoryGraph, or calibre
After downloading an AltHistory story with WP Downloader, you can look for it on Goodreads or The StoryGraph. Since these databases may not include the story, you can also manage the EPUB in your own calibre library.
Download the AltHistory story
WP Downloader is a free web tool with nothing to install. It collects the threadmarked chapters from an AltHistory forum thread and saves them as one book.
- Open the AltHistory downloader.
- Copy the story thread’s URL from althistory.com. It should look similar to this:
https://althistory.com/threads/some-story-name.123456/ - Paste the link into WP Downloader.
- Choose whether to include the story’s images.
- Download the EPUB.
EPUB is free for everyone. You can also download a PDF after signing in with Discord for free. WP Downloader does not create MOBI, AZW3, or TXT files.
AltHistory downloads do not require an account. WP Downloader downloads the whole story and collects its threadmarked chapters into one file. It cannot download an individual chapter or a list. See how to download AltHistory stories for a more detailed walkthrough.
Download the story again when the author adds chapters. WP Downloader cannot update an EPUB you have already saved.
Track the story on Goodreads
Search Goodreads using the story’s title and author. Most fanfiction and web serials are not in its database, so the story may not appear.
If you find the story, use its Goodreads entry to track your reading. If it is missing, you may be able to add it manually at goodreads.com/book/new. Goodreads requires a verified email, and brand-new accounts cannot add books. You must provide at least the title and author.
Search carefully before creating an entry. Goodreads librarians handle later edits and merge duplicate entries.
The Goodreads entry and your downloaded EPUB are separate. Adding the story to Goodreads does not upload the file, and downloading the file does not update your Goodreads activity.
Check The StoryGraph
Search The StoryGraph by title and author. Its database may not contain the AltHistory story.
The StoryGraph does not publish clear official instructions for adding works that are not books. If you cannot find the story, check its help pages for current guidance.
Keep your own reading list with calibre
calibre is a free e-book manager for Windows, macOS, and Linux. It lets you keep the downloaded story in your own library without relying on a Goodreads or StoryGraph entry.
After downloading the EPUB from WP Downloader:
- Open calibre on your computer.
- Select “Add books” and choose the EPUB.
- Edit its metadata or cover if needed.
- Read it in calibre’s e-book viewer or send it to a connected e-reader over USB.
The e-book viewer includes a “Read aloud” feature.
calibre can convert an EPUB to formats such as AZW3, MOBI, or PDF. This is useful when your device needs a format that WP Downloader does not create. You can also follow the instructions for sending AltHistory stories to Kindle or reading AltHistory stories on Kobo.
Your calibre library keeps the file, metadata, and cover together, even when the story has no Goodreads or StoryGraph entry.
FAQ
Can WP Downloader add an AltHistory story to Goodreads?
No. WP Downloader creates the EPUB or PDF. You must find or add the Goodreads entry separately.
Why can I not find the story on Goodreads or The StoryGraph?
Most fanfiction and web serials are not in the Goodreads database, and The StoryGraph may also be missing the story. Search by title and author before deciding that it is unavailable.
Can I download one AltHistory chapter?
No. WP Downloader downloads the whole story from AltHistory and collects its threadmarked chapters into one book.
Does WP Downloader make Kindle formats?
WP Downloader creates EPUB and, after a free Discord sign-in, PDF. It does not create MOBI or AZW3, but calibre can convert an EPUB to either format.
How do I add new chapters to my downloaded EPUB?
Download the AltHistory story again. WP Downloader does not update an existing EPUB with newly posted chapters.
